Rebates Being Offered As Incentive For Electric Vehicle Purchase
The incentives, which include up to a $1,000 rebate, are being offered locally as part of a program to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions.
ALAMEDA, CA – In an effort to encourage electric vehicle ownership, Alameda Municipal Power has introduced new rebates and a collection of online tools as part of an initiative to make electric vehicles a viable option for area drivers and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of the new program, car buyers can earn up to $1,000 on the purchase of an all-electric used vehicle. In addition, if customers choose a used plug-in hybrid vehicle, they are eligible for a rebate up to $500. Income-qualified customers who are enrolled in Alameda Municipal Power’s energy assistance program will qualify for an additional $500 for each of these rebates.
In addition to the new rebates, AMP has launched new website tools to provide residents with information on choosing, charging and purchasing electric vehicles. AMP’s new online calculator helps drivers learn how much money can be saved by switching from a gas vehicle to an electric vehicle.

AMP funds the rebates through low-carbon fuel standard funds. The state’s LCFS program aims to lower greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean fuels and electric vehicles.
“AMP is excited to offer these new EV rebates and online tools with the goal of lowering carbon emissions,” AMP General Manager Nicolas Procos said in a statement. “Now that AMP provides a 100% clean energy mix, our customers can be confident they are charging their vehicles with clean power."
