Education: Anna: I'm a freshman in at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. I'm majoring in Physics and Engineering. Sam: I'm a senior at Alameda High. Calculus is my favorite subject, but biology isn't so bad.

Sam, are you thinking about college already? Yeah, I think I want to go somewhere back east or one of the UCs.
Have you both lived here all your lives? Anna: No, I was born in Maryland. I moved here about 15 years ago. My dad is in the military so we moved here for his work. Sam: I was born in San Francisco, but my family lives here.

What did you do over the summer? Anna: I worked at the Harbor Bay Club on Bay Farm. Sam: I did too. I was a lifeguard, and she was a swim coach.
What do you like to do when you're not working or in school? Anna: Swim! Sam: We swim competitively.
Are you with a team? Sam: I'm on a team in Hayward called The Thunderbolts. Anna: I'm on the master's team. We both used to be on the Islanders. And we wakeboard.
What do you like about Alameda? Anna: I like that it's small. It's not a big city, and there aren't busy people trying to get somewhere all the time. Sam: It's really quiet too. And you know a lot of people. It's welcoming.
What are some things that you'd change? Anna: You always know everybody and everybody always knows you. Sam: I wish there weree more stuff to do. Places are close by, but you have to leave Alameda. It would be nice if you didn't have to leave.
Favorite places or activities? Anna: Peet's Coffee. Sam: I like the movie theater.
Word to the wise: Sam: Don't expect too much. Anna: I'd say listen. Sam: And drive slowly! Anna: Yeah, motorcycle cops are evil!
