Ring In New Year In Style Aboard USS Hornet
The 2018-19 fundraising bash in Alameda will feature a swing band, dance lessons and a view from the battleship's deck of the SF fireworks.

ALAMEDA, CA – If your New Year's Eve dance card is empty, consider this bash to welcome in 2019: the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum's New Year’s Eve Big Band Dance Gala.
Held aboard the ship museum on Monday, Dec. 31 from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., the fundraising gala benefits the museum’s education department and will feature three dance floors on the ship’s enclosed, heated hangar deck, plus free dance lessons by Jim Truesdale, a former Fred Astaire instructor.
Performing for the evening will be 3 O’Clock Jump Big Band, an 18-piece band specializing in such Swing Era standards as In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Route 66, Tuxedo Junction, Pennsylvania 6-500, 1 O’Clock Jump, 2 O’Clock Jump and more, and the The Swingin’ Blue Stars, best known for their vocal renditions in three-part harmony of WWII-era songs, especially those made famous by such groups as The Andrews Sisters and McGuire Sisters.
