Seen this weekend

Look what I found! errr, photo'd

It also  means that you won't be able to make it to all of them, or, I won't becuase I am one with the obsession here. The few that I have visited already were worth the trip.

For example, the sale near Candlewood Lake in Danbury, hosted by my friends at Recycle Again estate sales. Though the hoe is small there was as nice selection of items from several eras.

My favorite piece was this memento from the Attack on Pearl Harbor. It features a piece of a Japanese fighter plane recovered after it crashed near a hospital compound. The frame and note are clearly all the same age, which provides a window on the tragedy and the impact it had on the country.

No, I didn't buy. I left it for the next picker or WWII collector to enjoy, but I did take a picture.

Greg Van Antwerp is a Brookfield resident who writes about the things he's found at estate sales in the region. You can see more of his discoveries by visiting www.videomartyr.blogspot.com
