Spring Break Camp: Cooking Round the World

... where culinary arts and cultural education embrace!

Some of the most interesting countries of the world lie on the Mediterranean Sea. Spring camp 2016 will "visit" 5 countries that border the Mediterranean: Cyprus, Tunisia, Libya, Croatia and Spain. Each camp day we will cook and eat 5 different dishes from the country of the day, explore the different tastes and compare how each county's flavors differ from the other.

Additional programming includes some language education, an international folktale, an international game, a slide presentation for context, and a game show. Other activities include a cooking demonstration, an afternoon run around, and a rousing cook off competition aka the TV show "Chopped!"

Our Alameda 2016 spring break camp runs March 28 – April 1 from 9am – 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Friday; Wednesday: 12:30 – 4:30; Thursday: 9 – 1 pm at the Harbor Bay Isle Community Center: 3195 Mecartney Rd, Alameda.

Campers cook, taste, smell and savor foods from other countries. We encourage them to try new foods and food combinations they've never tried before and ultimately broaden their pallets- educational, fun and yum!
