Threat at Alameda High School Last Week Rattles Nerves

School officials say police and school administrators were aware of the threat and the student will be disciplined accordingly.

An incident which sparked rumors of a shooting threat around the Alameda High School campus last week has been investigated by school officials, and disciplinary action is being taken, Patch has learned.

Although Alameda Unified School District officials were tight-lipped about the details of the incident, spokesperson Susan Davis did confirm that an incident happened on the Alameda High School campus last Thursday. Davis says the school will be taking disciplinary action against the student involved in the incident.

“The student will receive discipline in accordance with the Education Code,” Davis said. “Parents weren’t notified because police and AHS administrators concluded that the threat was not ongoing after initial action was taken on Thursday.”

A concern AHS parent, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, contacted Alameda Patch about the threats.

“The students and staff at Alameda High School should be informed of the situation,” she wrote.

Davis says Principal Robert Ithurburn plans to address the situation in a letter to families later this week.
