#Zumba For Myla this Thursday!

We are hosting a Zumbathon for Myla, who was diagnosed with myeloid sarcoma in March 2014. Donation is $10.

” Myla, who lives in Alameda and is a student at Ruby Bridges Elementary School, was diagnosed with myeloid sarcoma in March 2014 and initially underwent chemotherapy at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland.

“Due to the severity of her diagnosis, Myla received a bone-marrow transplant at UCSF in August,” said UCSF spokesperson Suzanne Leigh. “Her father was the donor, even though he was only a half-match.”

Unfortunately, Myla developed a life-threatening complication last fall and is suffering kidney failure, for which she undergoes dialysis four or five times a week.”

Myla is part of our LEAPS Afterschool Program at Ruby Bridges Elementary. And my heart goes out to the strength, vitality and spirit she shows on her journey!

So I’m hosting a Zumbathon ® with Denise Lum, Sarah De Rouen, Robbie Wilson and anyone else who wants to help!

Please save the date! Thursday, April 23rd, 2015. 5-7pm.

All children are welcome! We should have over 50 in attendance! $10 Donation. All proceeds go to her family to help pay for medical costs.

(If you cannot attend, you may drop donations at our school, Attn: LEAPS/ Ms. Dana.

Checks payable to: Leyna Cunanan)
