2 Arrests For Albany Murder; Victim Identified

Police say a man was shot to death on the Ohlone Greenway on Sunday, prompting extra patrols on Monday.

ALBANY, CA — Police arrested two people on Monday on suspicion of killing a Vallejo man Sunday morning on the Ohlone Greenway in Albany, according to police.

Police arrested Kayla Gibson-Wytch, 21, from Berkeley, and Thomas Shimamura, 31, of Oakland, on suspicion of murder. They were arrested separately on Monday and booked into the Alameda County Jail.

Police identified the victim as Raphael Fuentes-Lee, 23, of Vallejo. Fuentes-Lee was found with a single gunshot wound to the head at a bench on the greenway in the 600 block of Masonic Avenue. The shooting was
reported at about 11:30 a.m., according to police.

Fuentes-Lee was taken to an Alameda Health System hospital but he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Officers are still looking for any witnesses who may have seen the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Albany police at (510) 525-7300.
