2014 Albany High School Madrigal Delights: Huge Success!
Huge thanks to the Albany community for a highly successful Madrigal Delights fundraiser.
Albany High School Vocal Music and Albany Music Fund’s Madrigal Delights was a terrific success this year, selling out all three shows and raising nearly $8000 for the music programs across Albany schools.
With three-or-more-year veteran teams led by Matt Marostica (dinner), Gail Starr (costuming), Deirdre Greene (ticketing), and Laura Driussi (all-around coordination), the choirs sold out all three shows days before opening night, a first in the choir’s history. Another first was Tom Ronningen’s student-designed script and Annabel Driussi and Jenny Li’s student-produced fliers and programs.
The matinee, filled to the brim, was packed with children and students as young as two and all the way through college age, and many of our supporting Girl Scout troops were there to share in the celebration. Our storytellers, jugglers, face painters, crown makers, knights, and the King and Queen were excited to meet and greet all of our patrons. The two evening shows were similarly filled to the brim with guests, and we were delighted to carol, pass out mistletoe and wassail, and delight the audience with our modern-twist on the age old “prince on a journey to find his love” story.
