A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the 2013 Albany Relay for Life!
Special shout outs go to those organizations that showed their support for those in our community whose lives cancer has touched by helping make this Relay happen, among whom were: Albany Fire Fighters & Police Officers, Albany Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Albany High School Key Club, St. Mary’s College High School, the Social Action Lasallian Team, and Albany Lions Club. Many thanks to Albany Unified School District for providing Cougar Field, to Albany Bowl for hosting our Kickoff Rally, and to Peets Solano Avenue Coffee for keeping us awake during our 24-hour event.
There are so many individuals who went above and beyond, whose work on this Relay contributes to the American Cancer Society’s goal to finish the fight against cancer, including: Bill K’Burg, Gelli Turingan, Jack Rosano, John Geissberger, Kendra Zien, Kim Denton, Mike Sommers, Noah Rosen, Peggy McQuaid, and Reece Halpern.
Also, thanks to the musicians whose music helped us keep up our momentum: Harpist Mitch Landry, and the groups Son Alma (Rich Kalman and Michael DeWall), Salty Mangos (Chris Trinidad and Noah Rosen); and 2 Hip (Noah Rosen and Mia Caro). Finally, gratitude to disc jockeys Allen Cain and Aaron Gobler who kept us hopping!
As we plan for the next Relay for Life in May 2014, remember that the American Cancer Society and the Albany community are here to support you, your loved ones, and anyone else who has or will be diagnosed with cancer. We rally together to prevent and cure cancer, and to help those whose lives cancer has touched. So far we have raised close to $17,000 in this year’s Albany Relay to be put to work in fighting cancer. Please continue to contribute to the Albany Relay for Life by going to www.RelayForLife.org/AlbanyCA, so that we can realize our dream of a cancer-free world.
