Albany Kids Will Continue To Have Crossing Guards
Multiple groups have been working to find funding for the program.

ALBANY, CA — The joint effort to keep kids safe while traveling to and from school in Albany has paid off - a plan has been worked out to fund crossing guards through the school year, according to superintendent Val Williams.
The sticking point is funding. UC Berkeley has been funding two crossing guards but the university says it can no longer fund the positions.
As a result, representatives from the City of Albany, AUSD, and UC Berkeley have been meeting to discuss the funding of six crossing guards.

The City will continue to fund three crossing guards. The City has agreed to fund the other three crossing guards until the December winter break, and UC Berkeley and AUSD will provide funding from January until the end of school in June.
Therefore, there will be six crossing guards for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year.
