The Albany Police Activities League (APAL) is pleased to announce we have been awarded a Youth Grant from the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame. The grant will fund new equipment for both the middle school and the “Crocodile” elementary school wrestling programs.
This is the 8th consecutive year APAL has received a Youth Grant. Previous grants have been used for Aikido and wrestling uniforms, including head gear and knee pads, sanitation supplies for wrestling, self-defense equipment, and mats for the wrestling program.
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) began in 1979 with the two-fold goal of recognizing the great athletes of the Bay Area and to help kids play sports. There is no brick and mortar building for the Hall of Fame so all money raised is used for scholarships and youth grants. More than three million dollars has been awarded to over six hundred and fifty youth organizations since the beginning of BASHOF.
