The Albany Police Department has been working with our crossing guard vendor to ramp up the crossing guard program as students begin returning to Albany school campuses. While we anticipate crossing guards will be in place by Monday March 15, 2021, we cannot guarantee their presence. Please continue to use caution while walking, scooting, and biking to school, particularly when crossing busy street intersections.
Like other businesses starting back up after the Covid shutdowns, some start up time is needed to get the crossing guards fully staffed. In addition to staffing, there is an expanded need for additional crossings due to the modified school schedules. We will continue to work with our vendor to get the crossing guard program fully staffed and in place as soon as possible.
