Albany's First Parklet

An innovative concept of combining a bus stop with a parklet is coming to Albany. The current red zone in front of As You Wish frozen yogurt and Hal's Office will soon become a favorite hangout for the lower Solano neighborhood. Designed by local artist/designers Abraham and Bonnee Elterman, the parklet will provide a much needed public garden for casual use or occasional events. It will be a garden a meeting place, a place to eat or read, and certainly a comfortable place to sit and wait for the bus. In the future it may be used for poetry readings, musical events and movie nights for the entire community to enjoy.

With funding from it's sponsors: Hal's, AYW, The City of Albany, AC Transit and The Albany Community Foundation and from the community through a kickstarter campaign (hals-parklet.com/kickstarter) which runs though June 19th, the parklet is scheduled to be built this summer.
