Albany's SchoolCARE Making A Difference In Local Schools

The local organization is raising more than a quarter of a million dollars, this year alone, for Albany public schools.

ALBANY, CA — Albany SchoolCARE is raising money for local schools.

Superintendent Val Williams recently asked members of the community to donate whenever possible. According to Williams, " Through SchoolCARE funding, AUSD is able to hire staff to provide services for our students. Our dedicated SchoolCARE volunteers work tirelessly to raise funds annually, and this year, SchoolCARE has pledged over $260,000 to the district."

In fact, for the 2016-2017 school year, SchoolCARE pledged $260,500 to AUSD. This money is currently supporting all Albany students by funding:

  • Transistional Kindergarten at the Albany Children's Center: Funding for additional music enrichment for TK and preschool students and field trips;
  • Cornell, Marin, and Ocean View Elementary Schools: Enrichment funding for Art, Music and Chess instruction, Technology support, Noon-time staff and programming, and the library tech position;
  • Albany Middle School: Counseling funds that support 2.6 counselors (including an at-risk Counselor), the library tech position, and full funding of the Writer Coach Connection program;
  • Albany High School: Funding for three elective sections to enhance student choice and flexibility, a portion of the Career and College Coordinator, and longer hours at the library through the library technician position.
