BAY AREA BOOK FESTIVAL in partnership with the San Francisco Chronicle, June 6 & 7, 10AM-6PM, Downtown Berkeley. Free indoor/outdoor festival with 300+ diverse authors from the Bay Area, California, nation and world appearing in keynotes, interviews, panels. Meet your favorite authors and have them sign your book. An outdoor children’s stage has storytellers and performers; the teen stage has poetry slams and Hip Hop for Change; on Saturday night, The Deadliners, a dance band. Ten themed streets of festivities host 150+ exhibitors including indie bookstores, publishers, zines, writing programs, book art and more. Chalk it up for Books on Sunday. Take a free book home from Lacuna, a library-temple art installation made of 50,000 books. Volunteers needed. www.BayBookFest.org
