"Beth Pollard Day" in Albany

The Albany community gathered on August 29 to celebrate “Beth Pollard Day”  Elected officials including Loni Hancock, Keith Carson, representatives from Nancy Skinner’s office and current and past Albany City Council members, along with many of her City Manager colleagues and Albany citizens recognized and honored her career in public service. 

Guests enjoyed mingling and chatting with old friends while enjoying light fare.  The program included proclamations from the State Legislators and Alameda County and many heart felt comments from both friends and coworkers.  The evening ended with Kim Denton’s famous carrot cake (yummy!)

Beth began her work in Albany in March 2001 and recently retired on August 23.  Some of her notable accomplishments include:

v  Implementation of Public Art Master Plan

Environment

v  Award winning restoration of Codornices Creek

v  Highest rate of recycling and composting in the County

Transportation

v  Creation of the most active Safe Routes to Schools program in Alameda County

v  Intersection improvements at Ocean View and Marin elementary schools

v  Implementation of the Marin Avenue reconfiguration

Public Facilities

v  Renovation of Civic Center and construction of an emergency operations center

v  Acquisition of a site for City Public Works Center

Economic Development

v  Target Store

v  UC Village Mixed Use Project

v  90% of citizens report satisfaction with City services
