Albany Does a Great Job with Recycling
Albany is praised for reaching compliance with a state recycling law.
There is some great unreported news from the City Council meeting on Monday night. David Tucker, Director of Government and Community Relations for Waste Management of Alameda County commended the Council for Albany being one of the first cities to reach 100% compliance to AB341. This is a law passed in July 1, 2012 that called for a statewide goal of 75% disposal reduction by 2020 and requires local governments to inform local businesses of the mandatory recycling law.
You can see his presentation at around the 7 minute mark on the video archive of the December 17, 2012 City Council meeting. http://www.albanyca.org/index.aspx?page=462
