Albany Police Activities League Hosts Classic Car Show on July 4

"Old Parked Cars" Inspires classic car show in Albany.

(APAL) Classic Car Show Q and A

Why is APAL hosting a Classic Car Show? We were inspired by the feature on Albany Patch. We are trying to raise awareness of our youth programs by creating an event for local car enthusiasts.

What is the purpose of the APAL Classic Car Show? This is a FUN event for people who enjoy special cars, whether they are vintage classics or “in process” treasures. It is a opportunity to share your special car with others.

Who should enter? ANYONE who has a vintage, a hot rod, a restoration in progress, or a muscle car. Do you own one of the cars featured in the Old Parked Cars: Albany feature on Albany Patch? We hope you will register for the car show. We have a wide variety of cars already registered including a 1929 Ford Model A
Roadster and a 1962 Mercury Meteor work in progress” which belonged to the grandfather of the current owner who is restoring it.

Why should I enter? Have FUN! This is an opportunity to show off your special vehicle at a great local venue. Come to socialize and share with other car enthusiasts, and local community members while celebrating 4th of July in the park. See what others are doing with their cars and learn from them.

What if I have never been in a car show before? This is the place for you! We are hoping to appeal to those who might not normally register for a car show. This is a small, friendly, and local show designed with you in mind.

Why are there prizes? The prizes are just for FUN! Potential categories include
“Fan Favorite”, the “Mayor’s Marvel”, “Police Chief’s Choice”

Where will the car show be held? It will be on Portland Avenue in front of Memorial Park. The car show is part of the City of Albany’s July 4 celebration. This is always a fun family event and you will enjoy spending a few hours at the festivities in the park

How long is the show? It is only three hours – from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. Since the holiday is in the middle of the week, we anticipate that more folks will be in town and able to participate

Why do I have to pay to enter? There is a suggested donation of $15 to the Albany Police Activities League (APAL). This money helps to defray the cost of the car show and supports the youth programs of APAL

Is there still time to enter? We have extended the registration deadline to June 22 to encourage more participation

How do I enter? You may download a registration form on our website, www.albanypal.net or print it from here.

What is APAL and where can I learn more about it? The specific purpose of the Albany Police Activities League is to provide a common meeting ground for police officers, community volunteers and the youth of Albany in the areas of amateur athletics, educational and recreational activities. APAL endeavors to meet this goal by providing a wide selection of programs designed to appeal to the varied interests of the youth in the community. Our website, www.albanypal.net, contains news, information and pictures of all of our programs and activities. Also look for us on Facebook.
