Blog: Gill Tractivists Occupy Albany Arts & Green Festival!

If not in body, at least in poetry....

Poets speak with many different voices, but the charge of a Poet Laureate is to channel the voice of a particular place and time—in this case, the place is Albany, of course, and the time is now, early spring.

I have been asked to write a poem for the occasion of the , and rarely has a subject for poetry demanded my attention more vigorously than the Occupy the Farm event happening just a few blocks away. So the pen and paper is out, and I'll be presenting the result at 1:15 p.m. on May 6.

I'll also have a table set up during the whole event, so please come by, introduce yourself, tell me what you'd like to see in terms of local poetry, and write a line or two for the Collaborative Albany Poem I'll be assembling! Who says Poetry Month has to end with April?
