Let's Stamp Out Hunger on May 12!

Leave non-perishable food near your mailbox the morning of Sat., May 12, and letter carriers will deliver to your local food bank!

On Saturday, May 12, people from across the country will partner with their letter carriers to help “Stamp Out Hunger.”

Now in its 20th year, the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is the largest single-day effort to combat hunger in America and the largest single-day food drive for food banks in the Bay Area.

To participate, place a sturdy bag of non-perishable food items by your mailbox before mail is delivered on Saturday. High-demand items include:

  • peanut butter
  • pasta and sauce
  • rice and beans (canned or dry)
  • low-sugar cereal
  • canned tuna or meat
  • low-salt soups and stews
  • canned fruit and vegetables

Your letter carrier will deliver the food to the Alameda County Community Food Bank that same day!

We rely on the Stamp Out Hunger drive each spring to help us prepare for the spike in need that comes with summer months. With school out, children receive two fewer meals a day -- and depend on our member food pantries, soup kitchens and community programs more than at any other time of year.

Last year, the Bay Area Stamp Out Hunger food drive collected more than 1 million pounds of food for those in need.
