Light It Up Blue on April 2nd!

April is Autism awareness month. On April 2^nd Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, celebrates Light It Up Blue, an event to raise awareness about Autism.

Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue.

A few things you may not know about Autism:

• Autism affects 1 in 88 children and 1 in 54 boys. Boys are five times more likely to have autism

• Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the United States

• Autism costs families $60,000 a year on average

There is no medical detection or cure for autism

 

Join thousands to shine a light on Autism. Here's how you can participate:

 

Go to Home Depot or your local hardware store and replace porch lights with blue lightbulbs.

Wear blue clothing and encourage coworkers and friends to do the same.

Share your support for Autism Speaks and Light It Up Blue on Facebook and Twitter.

Most importantly donate and help raise money for Autism Speaks.
