Patch Destroys Albany as Emilie Gloats!

Am I the only one who remembers that Albany was uniformly idyllic before we had Emilie Raguso editing a dedicated edition of the Patch? Has lowering the bar to entry for participating in the public dialog been a disaster for democracy?

Before we had the Patch, expressing an opinion required long hours of sitting through meetings hoping for a chance at the microphone, or carefully composing a letter to the editor of the local paper. Most people, thankfully, kept their opinions to themselves. Now, it's just type type type... ENTER.

The result has been an unprecedented level of divisiveness, with every fault line exposed as a sinkhole of hostility. The only beneficiary that I can see is Emilie. As the Albany Patch's market penetration expands beyond the population, her masters in the AOL/Huffpo corporate empire have expanded her fiefdom into Berkeley.
