Recipe: Smoothies!
National Nutrition Month continues! We're celebrating by sharing some of our favorite recipes -- delicious, nutritious, and easy on the pocketbook. This week, we've got versatile smoothies!

Sometimes it's tough to incorporate 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables into our diet each day. Smoothies are a great way to enjoy the nutritional power of fruits and veggies without added sugar that makes many breakfast and dessert choices less healthy.
Making a smoothie is easy, and it's versatile! All you have to do is blend fat-free or low-fat yogurt or milk, or dairy substitutes like almond or coconut milk, with fruit pieces and crushed ice. Use fresh, frozen, canned, and even overripe fruits. Try bananas, berries, peaches, and/or pineapple. If you freeze the fruit first, you can even skip the ice!
Overripe or frozen fruit is usually much cheaper than fresh fruit, so smoothies are a great choice for anyone looking to stretch their grocery dollar, too.
