Blog: Relay for Life—Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back

See photographs from Cougar Field, the site of 2012 Relay for Life in Albany, CA.

was the site for the held on Aug. 25.  Even the overcast sky and windy conditions could not dampen the spirits of the participants. The event began with a survivors lap, an inspirational time when cancer survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories they have achieved over cancer. Survivors are designated by wearing beautiful dark purple t-shirts.

Throughout the day individuals and teams continued their walk around the track at Cougar Field. Tents were scattered around the field as some participants planned to spend the night. People walk all night long with the event ending Sunday morning.

Breakfast was provided by the Albany Firefighters Association and dinner by the Albany Rotary Club. The Albany El Cerrito Kiwanis Club helped with registration.  Walkers were entertained with live music during much of the day.
