Seeking Nominations for Citizen & Youth of the Year Awards: Due Monday
Citizen and Youth of the Year Community Service Awards Nominations Sought—deadline next week.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the Albany Citizen and the Albany Youth of the Year, two prestigious awards that have been given for almost 50 years.
This year the Youth of the Year Award for Community Service will also include a $1,000 scholarship funded by .
As in years past, both winners of these distinguished awards will ride in a special vehicle in the Solano Stroll parade on September 9 and will be feted at a Dinner in mid-October 2012.

Youth of the Year
Youth of the Year nominees should be rising seniors in high school. They must attend an Albany high school or be Albany residents. Youth candidates must be in good standing at school, but there is no academic qualification for nomination. The award is for non-paid community service that makes an impact. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Citizen of the Year
Citizen of the Year nominees should be Albany residents or business people who have demonstrated a continuing contribution to the greater Albany community. Self-nominations are encouraged for this award, as well.
To nominate a candidate for either position, please submit:
- a one-page email or letter with the nominee’s contact information (name, address, phone number, email)
- the nominator’s contact information, including a daytime phone number
- the candidate’s accomplishments during 2011-12 or longer, detailing why he or she should be given the award
- additional letters of recommendation, as appropriate, by people who are familiar with the nominee’s community contributions.

The Youth of the Year will receive a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary education from the Albany Chamber of Commerce, funded by K2TOG.
Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2011.
