Blog: Skateboards are Still a Hazard

Last year I wrote about the on Solano. 

I had an incident with one on the 800 block of Pomona Avenue on Monday.

I was walking west on Washington to turn left to my house on Pomona when I heard a skateboarder barrelling along from the tennis courts. He was carrying a tennis racquet and going at a fair rate of knots. He had no intentions of slowing down.

A neighbour, whom I often see going for an afternoon walk, had just crossed Washington. She and I both have mobility issues and the skateboarder did not slow down, dismount, or in anyway show chivalry.

Perhaps his intention was to mow us down. If it was not, our safety was not his concern. I stopped and he sped past. My neighbour's companion led her to the side for her safety.

It's such a disappointment. If his parents wish to know, he was wearing a bright yellow top.
