City Of Albany: City Council Meeting Summary, July 19, 2021

The following provides a summary of actions taken by the City Council as part of the special and regular meetings on July 14 and July 19, 2021: 

Study Session: The Council provided direction to staff to develop a program for a mandatory soft story retrofit program that includes residential buildings with 3-4 units  and ways to protect and help not only tenants and property owners.

Review of Advisory Body Work Plan - Social & Economic Justice Commission: The Council refer the work plan back to the Social & Economic Justice Commission to revise and focus on less work plan items to complete within the term.

City Council Strategic Plan Update: The Council continued discussion of updating the City Council Strategic Plan. Final Strategic Plan will be at next City Council meeting for adoption.

Proposed Albany Village Graduate Student Housing Project: The Council discussed and directed staff to continue to meet with Vice Chancellor and staff of University California - Berkeley in communicating the City's interests and concerns associated with the proposed project. 

Request for Proposals for Organics, Recycling, and Solid Waste Collection Services: The Council authorized the release of a Request for Proposals for the said services and adopted an Request for Proposal Process Communications Protocol.

Designation of Voting Delegates and Alternates for the League of California Cities Annual Conference: The Council designated Council Member McQuaid as voting delegate and Mayor Gary and Council Member Tiedemann as alternates.

Next Regular City Council Virtual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 7:00 PM.
