Comprehensive Effort To Help Homeless In Albany, Berkeley

Case managers will focus on people who suffer from long-term homelessness, disabilities and metal health issues.

ALBANY, CA — A new outreach team will work with homeless people throughout Berkeley and Albany to provide them with health and housing services.

According to city officials in Berkeley, a team of five Berkeley Mental Health staff workers, including a public health nurse, will meet homeless citizens wherever they are, including parks, shelters and
encampments.

Case managers will focus on people who suffer from long-term homelessness, disabilities and metal health issues.

According to city officials, clients will be selected based on factors such as use of emergency rooms and problematic street behavior.

The outreach team will work in partnership with The Hub, which is the city's point of entry for city-funded housing and homeless services.
