DUI Arrest: Man Crashes Into Marked Emeryville Police Vehicle

Police say the driver ran a red light.

EMERYVILLE, CA — A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly running a red light and crashing into a marked police patrol car in Emeryville early this morning, police said.

The collision occurred at about 3:25 a.m. as the police officer was traveling on 40th Street near Hollis Street.

As he entered the intersection, a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Mark McCrary on Hollis Street failed to stop at the red light and collided with the patrol vehicle, according to police.

No one was injured in either vehicle, but the collision caused a moderate amount of damage to both cars, police said.

California Highway Patrol officers responded and determined that McCrary exhibited objective signs of impairment. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to police.
