Remember when he played for Cal?

Marcus Semien is coming home.

Semien started his career at St. Mary’s High-Berkeley and also played at Cal, so he has a built-in fan base.

The shortstop was acquired from the Chicago White Sox in a trade on Tuesday.

“He’s going to get the opportunity to play every day,” Beane told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. “He’s got a chance to be a guy who plays shortstop and hits 20-plus home runs. That’s pretty unique in this game.”

Semien’s batting average is .240 with eight homers.
