Chuck Brodsky at Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse

Now based in Asheville, North Carolina, Chuck Brodsky perfected his compassionate songwriting, groove-oriented guitar playing, soulful vocals, and dry social commentary while living in Berkeley and performing on the Freight stage in the 1980s. Tonight he brings us songs new and old, including selections from his new live CD, Two Sets.

While Chuck has a reputation for writing songs about baseball (he has nine songs in the Sound Recording Library of the Baseball Hall of Fame, where he's also performed numerous concerts), he turns his storyteller's mind, comic's eye, and empathetic heart to a wide variety of remarkable true tales. From an elephant that killed its handler to an outrageous hijacking to a political zinger ("Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire"), Chuck proves his talent as a raconteur in one after another arresting song full of memorable characters.
