Elegant Solutions to Saving Water

When Transition Albany ran a survey of Albany residents,  63% of respondents expressed concern over:
SAVING WATER

Here you can learn how to turn what can be a problem – of either too much or too little – into an elegant, multifaceted water-saving solution: filter stormwater, reduce runoff, protect public health & recharge aquifers, water your yard with collected rain and household greywater, save water and radically reduce your water bill.

There'll be a documentary, a business owner offering services to homeowners, advice from an expert on doing it yourself, and a chance to be selected for a future Laundry to Landscape workshop where your own greywater system is installed while others learn.

** SLOW THE FLOW, an inspiring 30-minute documentary from the California State Water Resources Control Board, shows what happens to rainwater when the storms come, and how people all over the State can make a difference by "slowing it, spreading it and sinking it". http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/stormfilm/

** PARK GUTHRIE, of Wildcat Farmers, a company that provides expertise, labor, tools, supplies and inspiration to help people create more resilient and decentralized food and water systems, will describe his 500 gallon rainwater catchment packages and greywater systems, as well as raised garden bed packages, edible forest packages and chicken coop packages, all of which utilize underused resources.
