First Person Singular complements its regular series with a monthly, musical, open mic based on a theme. A new take on the traditional hootenanny, HOOT! will delve into the entirety of popular song - our modern folk inheritance - in programs that highlight the perennial concerns that culturally define us. We'll sing about love, we'll sing about cars, we'll sing about the moon, summertime, and California. We'll celebrate the singular songbooks of select artists, and create living mix-tapes out of myriad sub-genres. Ready for new experiment in collective performance? Then sign up below and get in on the act! It'll be a HOOT!
Please join us Sunday, September 4, 7:00 pm for our inaugural HOOT!
Come Together, Right Now!
Songs of connection, communion, and collapsing your fortress of solitude
Down at the end of lonely street? Then join together with the band! Choose a song about hooking up, having a party, or gathering at the river, and bring it on down to HOOT! Cause it takes two, baby (or more), to make a dream come true. Or get to the end of the week. Or throw a hootenanny! Help HOOT! get off to a grand start. We can't do it alone! And bring some company!

The Rules.
- Cover songs only! (And covering your Aunt Tillie doesn't count).
- One song per performer (think "American Pie," cut in half).
- 1 minute set-up. We'll have a single amp and mic if you need it. The acoustics are great at St. Alban's, and HOOT! will be essentially unplugged.
- A piano will be available. Apart from that, it's bring your own ukelele.
- No "sing and scram." Every performer deserves an audience, and HOOT! is designed to be a group effort.
- You may perform solo, duo, small group, a capella, instrumental - however you see fit.
- $3 (or what can be afforded) in the hat for all attendees - performing and non.
