First Person Singular's HOOT!: Mistakes Were Made: Songs of the '70s (7pm)

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Wait, that's been used. It was the shaggiest of times, it was the permiest of times. More like it! Ah, the 1970's - age of political catastrophe, and cultural misdirection. Death cults, The Gas Crisis, streaking. The world was coming apart at the seams, but we monitored our mood rings, stroked our pet rocks, and had a nice day. We coped. The songs tell the story, and at the next HOOT! we'll be dancin' in the moonlight, smokin' in the boys' room, and tying yellow ribbons around the old oak tree. From "Afternoon Delight" to "The Morning After," we aim to hear it covered, so bring your smiley face and guitar to St. Alban's stage, and teach the world (or at least Albany) to sing!

Hosted by Joe Christiano and Theresa Kelly

THE RULES:

1. Cover songs only! (And covering your Aunt Tillie doesn't count).*
2. 1 to 2 songs per performer.
3. Quick set-up. Small amps are okay, but HOOT! is essentially unplugged.
4. A piano will be available. Apart from that, bring your own ukelele.
5. No "sing and scram." Every performer deserves an audience, and HOOT! is designed to be a group effort.
6. You may perform solo, duo, small group, a capella, instrumental - however you see fit.
7. $3 (or what you can afford) in the hat for all attendees - performing and non.

* Original songs are occasionally permitted, but must be credited in performance to Paul Anka.

Come sing or just come for the show!

Wheelchair accessible, cheap refreshments, mellowness.
