
Job Hunting Workshop with Robert White
Albany Library presents a series of four (4) workshops for job seekers. Each class will focus on a different area and will include time for questions and answers on individual job search strategies and issues. This curriculum may be modified to meet needs of attendees and available time and resources. (See each date for the material covered in that class.)

Session 1 Job searching basics:
- Learn what resources are available for job seekers, including materials in the library and on the Internet.
- Review or create a job search action plan.
- Discuss common obstacles to mounting a successful job search campaign.

Session 2 Resumes and cover letters:
- Review best practices, tips and resources for writing resumes and cover letters
- Discuss writing samples and questionnaires
Session 3 Interviewing:
- Discuss interviewing best practices including phone, video and in-person interviews
- Discuss handling tough questions in interviews
- Practice interviewing (time permitting)
Session 4 Networking:
- Discuss role of networking in job searching
- Discuss informational interviewing
- Practice elevator pitches (time permitting)
- Review use of social media in networking and job searching
Robert White is Director of Alumni Career Services for UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in Berkeley, California. He also maintains an independent practice including coaching private clients and consulting as a trainer-facilitator and coach for career development programs through the nonprofit Wardrobe for Opportunity in Oakland, CA. Prior positions include working as an attorney at a law firm and at Wells Fargo Bank and serving as Manager, Corporate Services Training, for Robert Half International, Inc. He is a graduate of Stanford Law School, holds a Masters degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Golden Gate University and received Bachelors degrees in English from Morehouse College and the University of Kent (England).
