I like to say, I was born in Nevada, raised up in Idaho and became a full-fledged adult in "sunny" California. I spent a few of my college years in New York; I was profoundly influenced by my time spent in New York City. But there's nothing like the Wild Wild West where my roots are firmly rooted. I am most at home in the chilly Northern California coastal fog, the winds of the high desert in Nevada and the high country of Idaho.

I was born about a half a century ago, give or take a few years if you know what I mean. I'm from the Green Clan of the Te-Moak band of the Western Shoshone Tribe. I spent my childhood hunting, fishing, camping and horseback ridding, Living in the world around me.   At the end of the 1980's a college friend invited me to move to Berkeley, I have lived in the S.F. Bay Area, Berkeley, San Francisco and Oakland for over twenty-five years. I'm married and have a son, family life suits me.

In 2008 my son and I rented a little house in my hometown just for the summer. So long San Francisco June gloom hello big sky country. It was so hot, 103 degrees everyday. We stayed in all day and went out in the evenings. On a hot, lazy Idaho summer day I became an Artist. I started drawing the world around me and it has become my art...                                          Alta Moore
