Sand Globe Gathering at Albany Beach - Free Instructional Workshop and Collaborative Art Event
Local environmental artist Zach Pine has refined his technique for making globes of sand over the past 13 years, and has taught hundreds of people how to make globes. In five minutes he can teach the basic technique; it usually takes beginners about ten minutes to make a grapefruit-sized globe. The globes have an evocative "planetary" quality, and the process of making them feels great.
At this event, Pine will teach everyone in sight to make sand globes (and encourage them to teach others!) Then, as in all his collaborative art-with-nature events, he'll invite the creation of a spontaneously evolving art installation on the beach, without a predetermined plan. Non-globe creativity is encouraged of course!
