Cheese in this country has come along way since "American" was synonymous with Velveeta or Cheez Whiz. Artisan producers are crafting cheeses that make even the culinary hearts of the French flutter, and much of the crème de la crème, of course, comes from California. As does the wine. Join Kirstin, wine bar manager, San Francisco Cheese School instructor, and author of "It's Not You, it's Brie" blog for a figurative trip across California cheese and wine country. You'll see farmstead cheeses from new and upcoming dairies, like one of the five certified sheep dairies in the state, classic favorites like Cowgirl creamery and hard-to-find specialities such as Andante, all paired with small-production local wines. Eight cheeses, five wines, and a lot of happy faces. Reservations for this event are highly recommended.
