Sudden Oak Death -- Where in the East Bay? What Can We Do?

Friends of Five Creeks presents an expert panel on Sudden Oak Death in the East Bay -- Where is it? What can we do? The invasive disease that threatens California's oak woodlands has reached the East Bay hills. Experts are racing to learn more about how it spreads, what really causes oaks to die, and what we can do to save the magnificent trees vital to our watersheds and ecosystems. Dr. Brice McPherson, UC Berkeley forestry specialist, explains how the disease is spreading locally; Dr. Matteo Garbelotto, plant scientist and pathogen expert at UC Berkeley, discusses progress in treatment.

Find out how you can help -- in your garden, local parks, or wild areas! This panel is for homeowners, landscapers, staff responsible for parks and wild areas, and anyone who cares about nature in our area. Free, all welcome! Refreshments, too.
