Todd is making the long trip from Zuni Pueblo in north-west New Mexico to share his carvings of corn maidens, buffalo, bear, badgers, turtles, jewelry and more. You can find Todd’s work in most of the books about Zuni fetish carvings. He uses top quality stone and shell, including interesting uses of fossilized shells.
The Zuni people have a long tradition of carving animals that are used in ceremonies and to assist in healing, protection, strength and more. Each animals has spiritual attributes associated with it. The bear is called upon for assistance in healing, the horse for safety in travel, and the frog for assistance in inviting the rain clouds.
This is a wonderful opportunity to talk directly with an artist from one of the longest continuously occupied places in the United States.
