Bill Lewis former Albany Mayor passed away Thursday evening. A strong advocate for youth, he was involved with Albany Little League for many years. He served in both a leadership role as well as working hands on to convert an old Albany Hospital portable into the Albany Teen Center. Originally located at Ocean View Park, the Teen Center was named in his honor.
Although he had moved away from Albany, Bill was often seen at Albany Historical Society story telling events sharing his thoughts and memories of earlier days.
Flags were flown at half staff on city buildings on Saturday in his honor. A service will be held for Bill on Saturday, December 7 at 11:00 at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito.
