These six shorts (from 2 minutes to 29 minutes long) include three must-see World Premiere films:

Best Documentary Short, Zuxin Hou’s “My Dad’s a Rocker,” is a glimpse into China’s pop music world powered by a daughter’s inspiring story of how her musician father fought back from a stroke with punk rock attitude. AFF judge Rick Tejada-Flores calls it “INCREDIBLE!!!!! A wonderful portrait of a man and his times.”

Tannaz Hazemi’s heartfelt “Before the Bomb” (Best Narrative Short, Best in Show, and Audience Favorite) tells the story of a 10 year old’s attempt to prevent Child Protective Services from seperating her from her little brother. Our judges agreed with the audience on this one, calling it “An amazing short film . . . Fantastic story and performances.”

The winner of the ”My Own Private Albany” category: Stephen Spies’ lyrical ode to Albany, ”Ballet Suite,” an original composition filmed on the Albany Bulb.
