The Albany Historical Society was established to ensure the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge about the history of the Albany area. To this end it was incorporated in the state of California and received IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2006.
Since that formal beginning, we have been busy; celebrating the City of Albany’s centennial in 2008, recognizing the name change from Ocean View to Albany with a time capsule a year later, collaborating with local author, Karen Sorensen, in the writing of Images of America ALBANY, hosting a variety of storytelling events, and donating seven historical plaques to the City, located at places of interest and importance around town. Please view more of our activities on our website, www.albanycahistory.org or like us on Facebook.
The Albany Historical Society hopes that you find these projects valuable to connect our present to our past, especially for our young student population and encourages you to join us at this time. A membership form may be downloaded from our website, www.albanycahistory.org
