Local Week - Thursday
It is amazing how many times we have the opportunity to shop locally. Just today I went to a bank on Solano, a copy shop on lower Solano and a sandwich shop for a yummy grilled cheese ( I am not mentioning any specific locations to avoid any cries of favoritism – they are all good). If I were keeping score, those 3 stops would be worth an additional 35 points, but alas my role this year is getting you those extra points.
I arrived at the Albany Senior Center in time to enjoy the banjo man entertaining those enjoying their lunch. It was a full house with folks eating chicken, salad, and fruit. Activities will continue all afternoon so be sure to stop in.

It is a perfect day for dinner outdoors. Little Star Pizza and Solano Cellars will have wine and pizza available for purchase at the Wine and Pizza Block Party. Come by the corner of Ordway and Solano and enjoy a relaxing experience with friends while eating exceptional pizza. Is this your third “Special Event” this week or are you looking to do two more over the weekend? The “Get Out More” bonus is within reach – keep finding activities to do!!
The Albany Traffic and Safety Commission meets tonight at 7:00 in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Included on the agenda is a presentation on Berkeley’s bike boulevards, a discussion on the UC Village Mixed Use Project, traffic calming projects and more. You can find the agenda on the city’s web site, http://albanyca.org/index.aspx?page=16&recordid=6216&returnURL=%2findex.aspx%3fpage%3d1. There is a lot going on with the transportation department and more importantly this is a great way to get extra points on your score card. Maybe you just need one more “Good Neighbor” to reach 3 for the week and those Mr. Rogers bonus 60 points.

The blog is running on Patch as well as the Recreation Department face book page. I am sure everyone would enjoy reading about how you are doing filling out your scorecard. I imagine the points are really starting to add up. Remember, the point of the week is to have fun and build community while supporting local businesses – the points and prizes you can win are just a bonus.
