New Poll: Should Urban Farm Be Part of UC's Village Development Goals?
Activists advocating for a community farm in Albany took over agricultural research land known as the Gill Tract on Sunday. Click the "Keep me posted" button below this story for updates when we cover this topic.

Since last Sunday's occupation of the Gill Tract by urban farming advocates, we've run two polls on Albany Patch about the endeavor. Some have said the action is simply the result of a failure by the University of California to listen to years of public support for an urban farm in University Village. Some have said it was a misguided attempt by uninformed activists that might have been more effective elsewhere.
Whatever your feelings about what's transpired in the past week, we'd like to know what you'd like to see at the Gill Tract in the future. According to the university's 2004 Master Plan document, the area is designated for community open space and recreation. (Read the Master Plan as a PDF to the right to learn more.)
