Panthers Explore the Creek

The annual Freshman Biology excursion into Codornices Creek takes place each September.

Each year, Saint Mary’s High freshman Biology students and teachers meander the section of Codornices Creek that borders the school campus at the top of Albina Avenue in Berkeley. Having been active participants in the extensive creek restoration project several years ago, and longtime members of local creek preservation groups, Saint Mary’s students work at creek clean up projects at various creeks around town during the school year. Annually, freshmen head down the creek banks on either side of the Albina Avenue bridge to carefully explore plant and animal life in the creek, clean up debris, and get a first-hand, wet-feet look at creek life.
