President Obama Set to Visit East Bay on Monday

Barack Obama has since becoming president three and a half years ago.

But, more often than not, his stops are on the other side of the bay—in the homes of wealthy Democrats in Pacific Heights or Atherton, and the .

On Monday, President Obama will be in the East Bay, raising money, rallying his base, and possibly backing up traffic in Oakland. (Scroll down to see the advisory from the Oakland Police Department about changes to expect in Oakland as a result.)

President Obama was scheduled to land at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday evening after visiting with victims of last week's movie theater shooting in Colorado, according to Bay City News Service. 

Here’s the president's schedule for Monday, provided by the White House:

11:25 a.m.: Air Force One leaves San Francisco International Airport for Nevada Air National Guard at Reno/Tahoe Airport.

12:35 p.m.: Obama speaks to the 113th National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Reno. (See a live stream of the video here.)

2:50 p.m.: The president returns to the Bay Area, landing at Oakland International Airport.

3:20 p.m.: Obama attends a $35,800-a-ticket fundraiser at the Scottish Rite Temple on Lake Merritt in Oakland.

5:35 p.m.: Obama heads up to 1 Sea View Drive in Piedmont for another $35,800-a-ticket event at the home of Wayne Jordan and Quinn Delaney.

7:55 p.m.: The president speaks at a campaign event at the Fox Theater in Oakland. (The present is scheduled to remain overnight in San Francisco.)

Protests are planned for the Oakland event.

Here’s the advisory from the Oakland Police Department: 

OPD will be posting no parking signs on affected streets on Friday, July 20. The time period for no parking will be Monday, July 23, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The following streets are currently scheduled for closure. Please be advised that these closures may be altered or cancelled per the direction of the OPD and the U.S. Secret Service:
●       Telegraph Avenue between 17th Street and Thomas L. Berkley Way
●       17th Street between Broadway and San Pablo Avenue
●       18th Street between Telegraph and San Pablo avenues
●       19th Street between Broadway and San Pablo Avenue
●       William Street between Telegraph and San Pablo avenues
●       Rashida Muhammad Street between 19th and 20th streets
●       San Pablo Avenue from 17th Street to Thomas L. Berkley Way
