'Prolific' Brekeley Drug Dealer Arrested With Guns, Body Armor: Police

Police also seized a backpack full of stolen MacBook computers.

BERKELEY, CA —A suspect described by Berkeley police as a "prolific" drug dealer was arrested in Oakland last week while allegedly in possession of drugs, cash, guns, body armor, stolen property and a GPS ankle monitor.

Detectives with Berkeley's investigations division served a search warrant in Oakland around 7 p.m. March 16 in the 3800 block of Market Street.

Berkeley resident Anthony Beamon, 35, was out on $770,000 bail in connection with three cases involving drugs and guns. He was observed getting two backpacks out of a car.

When officers moved to detain him, he allegedly dropped one of the bags as well as some methamphetamine and fled. Officers chased Beamon and he was taken into custody.

The bag Beamon dropped allegedly contained a loaded .40-caliber pistol that turned out to be stolen and a GPS ankle monitor that had been issued to him by a bail bondsman. The other bag was full of stolen MacBook computers.

He was also allegedly in possession of nearly $4,000 in cash, significant quantities of methamphetamine and heroin, additional firearms, a Taser stun gun and a ballistic vest thought to have been stolen.

Police said he was also in possession of other stolen property.

Beamon was arrested on suspicion of drug sales, being a felon in possession of firearms, operating a drug house, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, committing a felony while out on bail and
violating the terms of his probation.
