BERKELEY, CA — A 44-year-old Oakland man was arrested last week on several drug-related charges after his vehicle was stopped for speeding in Berkeley, according to authorities.

After officers pulled over the driver shortly after 2:30 a.m. Thursday for allegedly speeding on San Pablo Avenue, they found he had an outstanding arrest warrant, the Berkeley Police Department said.

A subsequent search of the individual and his car led to the discovery of rock cocaine, heroin, three digital scales and more than $1,000, police said.

"Based on the manner of which the drugs were packaged, as well as the small denominations of the money found, is indicative of a person possessing the drugs for the purpose of selling them," the department said.

The Oakland man, who was not identified, was arrested for suspicion of drug-related charges, as well as a violation of his probation, police said.
